Venue Sourcing

Overview

Hire Space is a UK venue-sourcing and booking company founded in 2013. Its platform connects event planners with venues and combines searchable listings, venue availability and pricing information, automated recommendations, and human support. The company serves corporate and private event organizers and reports more than 6,000 venues on its platform.

The business is positioned between a conventional venue directory and an event-procurement service. It is notable for using a proprietary venue-pricing dataset and for supporting enterprise customers as well as individual event planners. The company states that it is headquartered in London, has about 50 employees, and has processed more than £3 billion in events.

History

Hire Space was founded by Will Swannell and Edward Poland, who developed the idea after working with a cash-strapped school and campaigning to preserve recession-hit community venues. The business began in 2011 and launched in 2013 as a social enterprise with schools, churches, and community centres on its roster. It initially focused on helping venues monetize unused space and later developed into a technology-enabled venue-sourcing and booking platform. The company reports more than 6,000 venues on its platform and over £3 billion in events processed.

Manufacturing

Not applicable: Hire Space is a digital venue-sourcing and booking platform rather than a manufacturer. Its service combines proprietary venue-pricing data and technology with human venue-sourcing and event support; venues independently provide the spaces and related services.

Notable Products

Reputation

Hire Space is generally positioned as a practical alternative to sourcing venues individually, with strengths in breadth of listings, corporate support, and the combination of software with human assistance. Its published venue pages provide indicative rates, but final costs vary by date, capacity, minimum spend, catering, and venue-specific terms. Because Hire Space aggregates independently operated venues, service quality, pricing, and booking conditions can differ across listings; the platform itself is an intermediary rather than the operator of most venues.
