History

The Raspberry Pi Foundation, established in 2008, created the first Raspberry Pi computer to advance computer science education. In 2012, the Foundation established Raspberry Pi (Trading) Ltd as a subsidiary to support commercialization and meet growing demand. The trading company was renamed Raspberry Pi Ltd in 2021. In early 2024, ownership transferred to a newly created parent company, Raspberry Pi Holdings plc, which was 77.31% owned by the Foundation. On June 3, 2024, Raspberry Pi Holdings completed an initial public offering on the London Stock Exchange, becoming a publicly listed company.
